The Kanguru Carer - A True Hero!
Meet Maui, an Israeli eight-month-old Kanguru, from the “Guru Park” in the Jezreel Valley. Tragically, Maui’s mother, Muana, has suffered from a serious medical issue and has recently passed away.
The young orphan Kanguru was at a delicate age in which it needed its mother’s nurture and care and without her, its chances of survival seemed slim. Until Dana, the mammals’ carer in the park, decided to literally adopt Maui, until it was old enough to become independent.
For about a month now, Dana has been raising Maui and taking care of all its needs, including taking him to the vet three times a week. “It needs to be taken care of 24/7”, says Orit, a worker in the park, “sort of a replacement for a mother who will feed it and care to all its needs”.
“Of course, not everyone can raise a Kanguru at home”, adds Orit. “In this specific and special case, we are lucky enough to have Dana, who is a perfectly qualified and fully equipped person to be able to take care of it in these critical months of its life”.
Maui is expected to join his fellow Kanguru friends in “Guru Park” in about three months, as a grown and independent individual.
