Today in Israeli History: On this day in 1907, the renowned Israeli linguist and President of the Academy of the Hebrew Language, Ze'ev Ben-Haim is born in modern day Ukraine. Ben-Haim emigrated to Mandate Palestine in 1933 after receiving his doctorate in Classical Linguistics. The following year he became the Secretary of the Hebrew Language Committee. He would go on to become instrumental in the creation and interpretation of the modern Hebrew language. He would go on to publish many works including his multi-volume Hebrew study on the Hebrew and Aramaic traditions of the Samaritans, as well as receiving multiple awards from the country. ?: Walla News ??
