Today the State of Israel remembers its 6th Prime Minister, Menachem Begin. Begin had a passion for Zionism from an early stage of his life when he began his involvement in the Beitar movement. Prior to the establishment of the State of Israel, Begin was appointed Commander of the Etzel (aka "The Irgun"), and after the founding of the State he became an active political figure, eventually elected as Prime Minister. Begin's political achievements include settling a peace agreement with Egypt (that holds to this day) and bombing the Iraqi nuclear reactor. We remember Menachem Begin for his remarkable leadership, his Jewish pride, and his everlasting devotion to the State of Israel.
