Following the ICC's decision to investigate Israel for alleged "war crimes", the responses of senior Israeli figures were quick to arrive:
Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu: "Israel is under attack today. The biased court in Hague has made today a hypocritic and Antisemitic decision. The court says nothing about the Iran and Syria who commit true war crimes. We will fight for the truth until we revoke this decision."
President Rubi Rivlin: "This is an outrages decision. We will not accept the claims against our right and commitment to defend our citizens. Israel is a strong Jewish and democratic State who knows how to defend itself and when necessary- investigate itself too."
"We are proud of our soldiers, sons and daughters", added Rivlin, "who stand on guard of their country, generation after generation, as a forfeited wall against those who seek to harm us. We will stand on guard to ensure that they are not hurt by this decision."
Head of the "Yamina" Party, MK Naftali Bennet: "The ICC is an organization that dips in Antisemitism. We won't let this decision stop us or the IDF soldiers from defending the citizens of Israel. The security and eternity of Israel are above all."
IDF Chief of Staff, Maj. Gen Aviv Kochavi: "We will not allow any foreign institute to intervene in our activity to defend Israel, and even more so to put IDF soldiers at legal risk".
Minister of foreign Affairs, MK Gabi Ashkenazi: "The decision of the Prosecutor to open an investigation against Israel is an action of moral and legal bankruptcy."
"This is a political decision of a Prosecutor at the end of her term, and in an attempt to set priorities for her replacement. This turns the court into a vessel of radical factors and gives tailwind to terror organizations and Antisemitic bodies."
"The fact that Hamas terrorist organization congratulates the decision, indicates more than all that it has no moral validity. Israel is a democratic state with an independent and effective judicial system, who is not even a member of the court."
The decision to open an investigation against Israel exceeds the court's mandate, and waste of the international community's resources by a biased institute that lost all legitimacy and acts as a political body rather than a judicial one."
"The State of Israel", concluded Ashkenazi, "will take every necessary step in order to defend its citizens and soldiers from a legal persecution."
