Tensions in the Middle East are rising in light of the possibility of renewed fighting in Iran. According to assessments by political sources in Jerusalem, US President Donald Trump still prefers to reach an agreement with Tehran over renewed military strikes.
At this stage, he is seeking to advance Operation "Freedom", which is intended to rescue hundreds of ships stranded in the Persian Gulf and transport them through the Strait of Hormuz, thereby breaking through the Iranian naval blockade.
The Israeli security establishment is maintaining high alert, both defensively and offensively, in preparation for any possible development. However, senior security sources said that for now it appears that Iran is acting cautiously: it is concentrating its military activity in the Gulf region and refraining from expanding it towards Israel.
According to them, Israel is well coordinated with the US, and the two countries have a common bank of targets in the event of renewed fighting in Iran. The IDF is well prepared and knows well which targets to attack if a decision is made to resume the attacks.
