A new intelligence campus rising near the Shoket Junction in southern Israel is set to become the future home of thousands of soldiers from the IDF Intelligence Directorate, marking one of the most ambitious military relocation projects in Israel’s history.
Known as KAMA (an acronym for The New Intelligence Campus), the sprawling complex is being built between Beersheba and Meitar and is expected to be even larger than the long-standing intelligence hub in Glilot. Construction is already well underway, with skeletal buildings transforming the desert landscape into what planners describe as a “city in the making.”
The transition to KAMA is scheduled to begin later this year and conclude within two years. For the first time ever, all Intelligence Directorate units will operate within a single shared space. The move is designed to boost operational efficiency, encourage inter-unit cooperation, and enable joint teams, shared workspaces, common dining facilities, and integrated daily routines.
Each unit’s offices and work areas are being custom-designed down to the smallest details, including desk sizes, computer layouts, window placement, and natural lighting. Housing is also a central component: enlisted soldiers will live in shared rooms of four to six, while young career officers will have the option to live in dedicated apartment buildings in Beersheba, complete with shared gyms, clubs, and community spaces.
