The IDF and Shin Bet attacked and killed terrorist Amjad Muhammad Hassan Shaer in the northern Gaza Strip earlier this week (Wednesday), the head of the Counterintelligence Directorate in the General Security apparatus of the Hamas terrorist organization.

The Counterintelligence Directorate is responsible for suppressing opponents of the regime, thwarting espionage, and securing senior Hamas officials and their assets in and outside the Gaza Strip.

The Directorate is a vital part of the General Security apparatus of the Hamas terrorist organization (the General Security), which is responsible, among other things, for building an intelligence picture that assists senior Hamas officials in making decisions and executing terror plans against Israel.

IDF forces in the Southern Command continue to operate under the direction of the Military Intelligence and Shin Bet against terrorist organizations throughout the Gaza Strip.

Division 98 forces are expanding their activity in Gaza City.

Over the past 24 hours, and under the direction of the 7th Brigade's firepower, an anti-tank position from which fire was fired upon our forces was destroyed, without casualties. Division 162 continues fighting in the northern Gaza Strip: Givati TZKH operates in Beit Hanoun, TZKH 401 in Jabalia, and Nahal TZKH in Darj Tofah.

The forces are locating and destroying shafts and terrorist infrastructure.

Division 99 operates in the north and center of the Gaza Strip, and continues to expose enemy infrastructure and eliminate terrorists.

Over the past 24 hours, the Air Force has attacked dozens of terrorist targets throughout the Gaza Strip.

Among the targets attacked with the assistance of the ground forces: terrorist squads, military buildings, combat tunnels, anti-tank firing positions, weapons depots, and additional terrorist infrastructure.
