WATCH: Former US government official: "There is not enough pressure on Hamas to release the hostages"

Hazem Al-Gebra, a former senior advisor to the US State Department, shared his perspectives on the most pressing challenges facing Israel and the Middle East. 

Al-Gebra, a Syrian native visiting Israel for the first time at the invitation of the Jerusalem Center for Foreign and Security Affairs, emphasized:

“It is clear to all of us that the hostages are the central issue that needs to be on the agenda. They must return.”

During the interview, which focused on the incoming administration’s policies in the United States, the senior adviser noted that the return of the Israeli and American hostages held by Hamas is an urgent obligation that must be focused on before ceasefires or long-term solutions can be discussed.
