The Houthis released footage of Monday's attack on the Cordelia Moon tanker, describing it as a British oil tanker.
But global shipping experts say the ownership of the ship is registered in the name of a company in India.
According to the same experts, the company in India is actually a straw company and the tanker that was attacked is part of the "shadow fleet" that transports Russian oil in defiance of the global sanctions imposed on Moscow since the invasion of Ukraine.
I wonder how Russia will react to the damage to a tanker that served its interests. So far the relations between the Houthis and the Russians appear to be warm and recently it was reported that Russia is considering selling advanced missiles to Yemen through Iran.
