In a new audio message, the group urges intensified operations against targets linked to the Syrian state and threatens President Ahmed al-Sharaa directly.
ISIS released an audio recording over the weekend attributed to its spokesman, Abu Hudhayfah al-Ansari, calling on operatives to increase attacks on targets associated with the Syrian government.
According to Arab and international media reports, the message was distributed through Al-Furqan Media, the organization’s propaganda arm, and amplified via social media accounts linked to ISIS.
In the recording, al-Ansari claimed that “important events” had taken place in the region, including what he described as the removal of Iranian influence from Syria and the appointment of a leader “inclined toward the West and the Turks”—an apparent reference to Syrian President Ahmed al-Sharaa. He argued that these developments validate ISIS’s long-standing campaign against actors it portrays as aligned with Western interests.
