Report in the Wall Street Journal: US Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth threatened this evening in a meeting with senior Mexican security officials that if they fail to curb drug cartels and smuggling activities on the border - the US will launch unilateral military action. 

According to the report, the Mexican officials were "shocked and furious" - and understood from him that the US was preparing for a military attack on Mexican territory.
