Without recounting the story, the lesson is simple: a scorpion is a scorpion—it will sting even if it is against its own interests
Now imagine a scorpion that, despite its best interests, just can’t stop funding terror. No matter how much it undermines its state-building ambitions, it just can’t help itself. You’d probably call that creature the Palestinian Authority.
According to the Washington Free Beacon’s Adam Kredo, after promising again to end its terror-stipend “pay-for-slay” program, the PA transferred more than $200 million to families of terrorists in the past year.
I’m torn between thanks and condemnation. On the one hand, they incentivize terrorism by rewarding terrorists with welfare based on the severity of their crimes—measured by the length of their prison sentence. It’s morally bankrupt and strategically self-destructive. On the other hand, they make the writing easy: PA vows to stop supporting terrorists; PA pays terrorists; the world shrugs. It’s basically just copy-paste.
