Anyone who has been following the war in Yemen cannot help but notice the change that has taken place in President Biden in his remarks towards Saudi Arabia. A few months ago the Washington administration accused Saudi Arabia of killing children in Yemen but a few days ago President Biden had already spoken of the "brave" Saudi leadership after it agreed to extend the ceasefire with the Houthi rebels.
The Saudis have criticized Biden at the beginning of his career in relation to the conflict in Yemen - the suspension of arms sales to Saudi Arabia and the removal of the Houthis from the list of terrorist organizations.
The Houthis interpreted these measures as American pressure on Riyadh and drew encouragement from them to continue the fighting, Saudi Arabia claims. The ceasefire in Yemen eventually helped Biden make the decision to come to Saudi Arabia next month.
Despite this, at the moment the estimates give little chance of a long-term settlement with the Houthis, Iran's pimps in Yemen, due to their insistence on not compromising with the Yemeni government in Aden.
