After the 12-day war, Pakistan fears Israel’s long reach amid growing ties with Iran, responds with threats
Amid recent geopolitical upheaval, Pakistan’s military issued a sharp statement defending its nuclear program, following Israeli and U.S. strikes on Iranian nuclear sites. Pakistan declared its nuclear program “fully secure” and warned that any attempt to interfere would meet a “decisive deterrent.”
Pakistan sees its nuclear arsenal as not just a defense tool but a pillar of strategic balance in the region. Its warheads are believed to be stationed in Punjab, well away from Taliban-influenced northern areas, and are heavily guarded by some 10,000 troops and intelligence agents. Its nuclear triad — land, air, and sea-based capabilities — is reportedly being modernized.
Israel and India remain concerned that Pakistan could transfer nuclear tech to hostile states or use tactical nuclear weapons during a conventional war, especially with India. Following threats made by Prime Minister Netanyahu, Israel has hinted at possible military action, prompting a quick response from Pakistan’s military spokesman, who stated their forces are on high alert and “the finger is on the trigger” if Israel targets nuclear or missile facilities.
