The exercise was the culmination of an annual process aimed at preparing the economy and government ministries to better deal with the scenario of a widespread cyber incident that may disrupt the routine of life in the country. The scenario that was practiced dealt with a cyber attack that simultaneously hits key organizations in the fields of transportation, health, finance, government, supplies and energy.

During the year, the National Emergency Authority and the Directorate held many trainings and preparations to improve the national response to a potential cyber crisis. Among other things, in the last month, 40,000 civil servants in 20 government offices were also trained in an exercise that tested the degree of alertness to phishing messages.

According to Gabi Portnoy, head of the National Cyber System: “In the current reality, the threat is only intensifying and we are going to encounter more and more cyber incidents. A cyber incident requires national organization to deal with it together and the creation of broad management mechanisms for a national response. In addition to the technological aspect and the consequences for functional continuity, cyber incidents now contain a component central to aspects of influence and consciousness and therefore also the significant place that advocacy has in a crisis.”
