Exclusive: We reported tonight on Channel 14's edition that Israel is on the verge of signing a massive arms deal with Germany, worth billions of dollars.
Israel Aerospace Industries is conducting advanced negotiations with Berlin for the sale of Arrow 3 interceptors. The first deal between the parties for the sale of Arrow batteries was signed about two years ago and was the largest in Israel's history, worth more than four billion dollars. This time too, it is a deal worth billions - despite the arms embargo imposed by the German government on Israel.
Following the war between Russia and Ukraine, German Chancellor Friedrich Merz made a strategic decision to allocate hundreds of billions of dollars in the coming years for the renewed strengthening of the German army, which had been neglected for decades. Merz, according to him, aims to turn the Bundeswehr into "the strongest conventional army in Europe," and a significant part of the economic pie involved in this may fall into Israeli hands despite the German embargo on arms exports to Israel, which is partially enforced. What an amazing reversal of history.
In general, in Jerusalem, an interesting phenomenon is identified where quite a few countries impose various restrictions on arms exports to Israel - and at the same time purchase advanced weapons systems from us for huge sums. The last two years have been the best in the history of Israel's defense industries, and apparently many countries need us no less than we need them - and sometimes even more.
