An Iranian Friday sermon in Ahvaz declared that President Trump has suffered consecutive global failures and that Iran’s Supreme Leader remains committed to the destruction of America and Israel.
In a January 30, 2026 Friday sermon in Ahvaz, aired on Iranian television, Islamic scholar Mehdi Akhavan-Sabbagh delivered a sweeping attack on US policy under Donald Trump.
He outlined what he described as a list of American “consecutive failures” since Trump’s reelection, including trade tensions with China, the ongoing war in Ukraine, instability in Yemen, developments in Venezuela and Iraq, and the war in Gaza.
Akhavan-Sabbagh claimed that Trump was forced to retreat from tariff threats against China and failed to end major conflicts abroad. He also pointed to unrest in Minneapolis as supposed evidence of internal American weakness. In a provocative claim, he asserted that walls in American cities bear graffiti calling on Iranian Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei to “come and save” Americans.
