NEWSRAEL: The recent decision to name Yahya Sinwar, in addition to him being the military leader of Hamas, as political leader means that Hamas terms for a hostage deal will be much more extreme. Time to find him and eliminate him!
A report in the Emirati newspaper The National in the English language: the new head of the political bureau of Hamas, Yahya Sinuar - conveyed to mediators in Egypt after his appointment an uncompromising position regarding reaching a cease-fire agreement in Gaza.
Sources close to the mediators said: "His appointment may hinder the negotiations because of his tough position regarding the continuation of the war in Gaza."
According to the sources cited, Sinwar delivered his firm message regarding the conditions for the hostage deal: a full Israeli withdrawal from Gaza and the release of high-profile Palestinian prisoners - as part of the ceasefire agreement to end the war.
According to the report, he also informed the Egyptians that he was "uncompromisingly" opposed to the Palestinian Authority running the Strip the day after the war.
"Sinwar also made it clear that he refuses the deployment of a multinational force in Gaza after the war."
It was also stated that he wants to see Marwan Barghouti and Ahmed Saadat, the leader of the Popular Front and who planned the murder of murdered Israel government minister Rahavamm Ze'evi on October 17, 2001, released, and will not compromise on that.
"A cease-fire and a deal for the release of prisoners and hostages between Hamas and Israel now seem very unlikely. Negotiations may resume at some point - but Hamas will take a tough stance and there may not be a cease-fire," said another source.
