While global media focuses on the “famine” in Gaza, Sudan’s ongoing war has left thousands of children in severe acute malnutrition.
Tens of thousands of families have fled their homes and can no longer afford food for their children. At the same time, medical centers have collapsed, and supplies of essential nutritional supplements have run out.
Global attention? Minimal compared to Gaza.
According to UNICEF, in Khartoum Province alone, over 300,000 children suffer from severe malnutrition, including 26,500 in critical condition. Disturbing figures are reported from other areas as well. Nationwide, Sudan’s Ministry of Health recorded 130,322 malnutrition cases between January and April this year—an alarming increase of about 50,000 compared to the same period last year.
