Thousands of fighters and military advisers from the Iranian IRGC are deployed in Syria, although in Tehran they only talk about advisers assisting the regime's forces.

They have been deployed mainly in the border strip between Syria and Iraq since the end of operations against ISIS in Iraq and then in Syria, and they have taken over the city of Albuqmal and made it the center of their military activity.

Over the years, trucks carrying weapons and ammunition have been attacked from the air, as well as warehouses and military sites of the militias, mainly in the area between al-Myadin and al-Bukmal.

While accusing fingers have been pointed at Israeli planes, in Tel Aviv it is customary to remain silent about these attacks, except in rare cases.
