Authorities in the United Arab Emirates confirmed that a drone strike caused a fire in an electrical generator outside the inner perimeter of the Barakah Nuclear Power Plant in the Al Dhafra Region.
Officials said there were no injuries and stressed that the strike did not impact radiological safety levels, plant safety systems, or reactor operations. The Federal Authority for Nuclear Regulation (FANR) stated that all units at the plant continue to operate normally.
The incident immediately raised questions across the Gulf over whether Iran or one of its regional proxies may have been involved, especially amid the growing regional tensions and recent threats against Gulf infrastructure.
