Recruiting for Hamas and its armed wing, the al-Qassam Brigades, has increased significantly in the Palestinian refugee communities spread across Lebanon, according to what the "New York Times" quoted Lebanese officials and others from Hamas, which is designated as a terrorist organization in the United States and the European Union.
These sources confirmed that hundreds of new recruits have joined the ranks of Hamas in recent months, in the 12 camps spread throughout Lebanon, including the Ain al-Khilwa camp, which is one of the largest Palestinian refugee camps in the country.
The newspaper noted that its journalists, during a rare visit to Ain al-Khilwa, noticed posters bearing the image of the spokesman for the Al-Qassam Brigades, Abu Obeidah, everywhere.
The newspaper reveals that many of the youth in the camp said that this is the first time they feel hope, and noted that many of them know dozens of family members or friends who joined Hamas since the beginning of the war in October.
