Iranian sources reported on September 4, that a commander from the ranks of the Iranian Revolutionary Guards was killed in Syria.
According to the Live Iran News website, a commander in the Revolutionary Guards, Yahya Rostami, was killed in Syria, he is a resident of the city of Nasim in Bharstan province, and he will be buried there. The Iranian website did not provide information on the exact place where he was killed and the cause of his death, nor was it provided information on when he was killed.
Iran says its officers are performing advisory roles in Syria at the behest of the Syrian regime, but in fact, Iranian officers lead armed militias supported by the "Iranian Revolutionary Guards" that have carried out dozens of massacres in Syria.
Hundreds of officers and fighters from the ranks of the Revolutionary Guards, including senior officers, have been killed in Syria since the start of Iran's involvement in the war alongside Assad at the end of 2011.
Some were killed in battles with Syrian opposition factions and others in bombings by the international coalition and Israel.
