No reports of other injuries; police say aircraft tried to make an emergency landing; rescue services say operations complex due to the amount of aviation fuel at scene
TOI reports that two people were killed after a light aircraft they were flying in crash-landed on a highway in the south on Saturday.
The plane crashed into Route 60 near the Shoket interchange.
Police said the fatalities were a woman and a man. They were not immediately named.
There were no immediate reports of any other injuries on the ground.
Police said that the plane had attempted to make an emergency landing.
Emergency services said operations at the scene were complicated by the amount of aviation fuel the plane was carrying at the time of the crash.
Images showed burning wreckage on the highway with a number of cars nearby. The thoroughfare was closed in both directions.
