Jerusalem, 17 May, 2023 (TPS) -- The Israel Police is preparing for the Jerusalem Day events that will take place throughout the city between May 18-19, 2023, marking 56 years since the unification of the city of Jerusalem.

The operational preparation of the Jerusalem police district under the command of the district commander Superintendent Doron Turgeman, will include thousands of Israel Police officers, Border Police fighters and volunteers, who will be deployed throughout the city to maintain public order, safety of mind and property and traffic direction, with an emphasis on the main events that will take place in the city in the coming days To mark Jerusalem Day, including: White Night events, the traditional flag parade, state ceremonies to be held on Mount Herzl and Ammunition Hill, tours, ceremonies at monuments and the revelry of Samuel the Prophet.

Police are also prepared for the annual march of the flags, to take place from the center of Jerusalem to the Western Wall through the gates of the Old City and its alleys.

Over two thousand police officers will be active before and during the march of the flags. The police said they will work to secure the crowd, and to regulate pedestrian and vehicle traffic in the area, especially near the Old City. The purpose of the activity is to maintain a normal fabric of life as much as possible, and to allow both the participants of the march and the rest of the pedestrian public and worshipers of all religions to reach their destination and the district they want, and in the process also prevent incidents of friction and violence of any kind.
