Contradictory reports in Arab media continue to circulate regarding the current whereabouts of Naim Qassem, the leader of Hezbollah, as threats against him persist.
According to several Arab outlets, Qassem may be hiding in a basement within the Iranian embassy compound in Beirut. This claim is frequently promoted by Lebanese opposition figures and media hostile to Hezbollah.
The reasoning is strategic: embassies are considered sovereign territory and benefit from diplomatic immunity, making a direct strike highly sensitive and potentially escalatory—effectively creating a “protective shield.”
This speculation intensified after the elimination of Hassan Nasrallah, when Qassem began appearing in speeches filmed in sparse, enclosed environments, fueling assumptions he is operating from bunkers or diplomatically protected sites.
