Arab Americans for Peace founder Bishara Bahbah who acted as “an unofficial intermediary between the Trump administration and Hamas,” says Arab-Americans lack the political investment needed to influence Washington.
Arab Americans for Peace founder Bishara Bahbah argued that US policy could shift toward the Palestinians if Arab-Americans had several major political donors comparable to Miriam Adelson.
Speaking on the Mazeej Podcast, Bahbah said the community is unwilling to spend large sums to build influence in Washington. He claimed that he approached wealthy Arab-Americans seeking $1 million for political activity, but they demanded guarantees that President Donald Trump would support a Palestinian state.
Bahbah contrasted that attitude with major donors who are prepared to invest heavily in election campaigns to influence policy.
