While all eyes in the region are on the war in Gaza, China is wasting no time expanding its grip on the region.
In view of the American stuttering in the region, the Chinese who are deeply active in African countries announced this week about a huge project they will carry out in Egypt.
In an interview with Arab media yesterday, the ambassador in Cairo Liu Lijiang (pictured) said that China will establish its own integrated industrial zone in Egypt. According to him, this is "the largest Chinese investment in the Arab region". He refused to give an exact figure for the investment, but according to estimates it is several billion dollars.
According to the ambassador, this industrial city will include diverse strategic and logistic industries whose products will be directed to the Chinese market as well as to other countries.
The project will create many jobs for Egypt. He did not provide a schedule for implementation but noted that the announcement of the project is expected soon.
