Iran accuses Azerbaijan of enabling Israeli drone attacks, while President Aliyev denies all allegations — tensions escalate between the neighboring countries.
Following recent attacks on Iranian territory, Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian called Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev on Thursday to demand clarification over reports that Israeli UAVs and drones had entered Iran via Azerbaijani airspace.
According to Iranian media, Pezeshkian urged Aliyev to verify widespread unofficial reports and social media claims suggesting that Israeli aircraft may have used Azerbaijani skies to strike targets in Iran.
Aliyev strongly rejected the accusations, saying, “The Azerbaijani government would never allow its territory or airspace to be used for any military operation against the Islamic Republic of Iran, a friendly and brotherly nation.” He reaffirmed Baku’s commitment to maintaining good relations with Tehran.
