Former U.S. National Security Advisor John Bolton said that peace in the Middle East will not be possible without the overthrow of Iran’s Islamic Republic, stressing that the regime is far weaker than many believe.
Speaking at Harvard University in Cambridge, Massachusetts, Bolton noted: “We hear from Europe, America, and inside Iran itself that this regime is far more vulnerable than people think.”
Bolton argued that the Iranian government did not emerge stronger after the recent 12-day war with Israel, saying: “The truth is that Iranians saw their regime fail to stop the U.S. and Israel from destroying its vital nuclear and ballistic missile assets. That only reinforced the sense that the regime’s days are numbered.”
He also pointed to the poor economic situation, widespread dissatisfaction, and the growing role of women’s rights movements after the killing of Mahsa Zhina Amini.
