Iran has reportedly launched short-range ballistic missiles at a refinery complex in the Ma'ameer industrial area of Bahrain, causing heavy damage and multiple large fires at the site.
Footage from the scene shows thick black smoke rising above the refinery as flames spread through parts of the facility. Emergency crews were quickly dispatched and are working to contain the fires while authorities assess the full extent of the damage.
The strike is being viewed as a significant escalation in the regional conflict, as it directly targets critical oil infrastructure in Bahrain. The country hosts the US Navy’s Fifth Fleet and is a key energy hub in the Persian Gulf, making the attack both strategically and economically sensitive.
NEWSRAEL: WHY THIS IS IMPORTANT
An Iranian strike on Bahrain represents a major widening of the conflict beyond Israel and Iran. Bahrain is a close US security partner and a member of the Abraham Accords, meaning any attack on its territory carries broader regional implications.
