Sagiv Steinberg, CEO of the Jerusalem Center for Foreign Affairs and Security, warned that the emerging agreement between the US and Iran does not represent genuine peace in the Middle East.
“President Trump posted that we have a peace agreement, but as far as I am concerned, this is another 60-day ceasefire,” Steinberg said. He noted that the full details have not yet been released and that much of the available information is coming from the Iranian side. “We need to wait and see what is actually written in the agreement.”
Steinberg stressed that Israel is not a party to the agreement and said the real test will be how Iran uses the time it gains.
“If Israel sees Iran rebuilding its ballistic missile industry, we will have a problem, and Israel will act again—even without the United States,” he said. “Israel cannot be expected to accept a reality in which Iran remains a powerful and threatening regional power.”
