A senior Israeli official estimates that the country is now “at the threshold of several days of battle against the Iranians and their proxies in the Middle East,” signaling that the latest exchange may develop into a broader regional confrontation rather than remain a limited round of fire.
According to Israel’s Ambassador to the US, Yechiel Leiter, the planned targets inside Iran include surface-to-surface missile launch sites and additional infrastructure that is not connected to the country’s energy sector.
An Israeli source said that air-defense systems and radar installations have also been attacked inside Iran. These targets are central to Tehran’s ability to detect incoming aircraft, protect military facilities and continue launching ballistic missiles toward Israel.
The targeting pattern suggests that Israel is working to reduce both Iran’s offensive missile capabilities and its ability to defend strategic military sites from further strikes. At the same time, the warning concerning Iran’s regional proxies indicates that Hezbollah and other Iranian-backed terrorist organizations could attempt to widen the fighting from additional fronts.
