According to Egyptian sources, Egypt and Iran have recently maintained intelligence contacts related to a number of regional issues. According to the same sources, Egypt warned Iran not to try to carry out attacks against Israelis in its territory, ie in Sinai.
 
Sources noted that "Egyptian officials have informed their Iranian counterparts that Egypt will not put up with damage to its security reputation as part of the ongoing conflict between Tel Aviv and Tehran." Sources stressed that Cairo has recently refused to be involved in any military effort aimed at Iran. According to Egyptian sources, the warning to Iran came after Israeli intelligence estimated that Israelis would be the target of Iranian attacks in the Emirates and Sinai. 

According to the report, the Iranians told Egypt that these were "Israeli lies."
