An unclear incident happened tonight at the Iranian Shiraz airport. A Boeing 737 passenger plane belonging to the Oman Air Company that made a landing reported that it was hit by "unidentified objects" on the runway.
The plane was damaged and the return flight that was supposed to be made was canceled. According to the company's announcement, the plane is not in flying condition.
Both the Iranians and the Omanis did not specify what caused the damage or the extent, but it is clear that the plane cannot fly back to Oman at this stage. The Omani company sent another plane to Shiraz to fly the passengers on the flight in the opposite direction.
It should be noted that the airport in Shiraz is also used by military aircraft.
If the Omanis need spare parts for this plane, it could be "stuck" in Iran for many months since the American sanctions do not allow the transfer of spare parts to Iran for both Boeing and Airbus planes.
