The IDF has revealed new intelligence showing that Hezbollah’s covert Unit 121 carried out a series of assassinations targeting four Lebanese public figures who posed a threat to the terror group’s narrative about the 2020 Beirut port explosion.
Hezbollah’s Unit 121 is one of the organization’s most secretive and feared internal-security and assassination units. While Hezbollah has many military and intelligence branches, Unit 121 sits at the heart of its regime-protection apparatus — loyal directly to the group’s leadership.
According to the assessment, the victims — senior customs officers and journalists — were silenced because they had uncovered or were preparing to reveal that the catastrophic blast was directly tied to Hezbollah’s storage of ammonium nitrate at the port.
The 2020 explosion, one of the largest non-nuclear blasts in history, devastated Beirut, killed more than 200 people, and triggered nationwide outrage. For years, Hezbollah has worked aggressively to block investigations, intimidate judges, and politically paralyze any effort to expose its role.
