The Houthis in Yemen have sent a message to Hamas’s Al-Qassam Brigades hinting that they may stop their attacks on Israel and on vessels in the Red Sea, following the fragile ceasefire in the Gaza Strip.
In their letter, they stated they are “monitoring developments closely and will resume deep attacks inside Israel if Israel returns to its aggression against Gaza, in addition to reinstating the ban on Israeli shipping in the Red Sea,” according to the Associated Press on Tuesday.
Although Yemeni outlets reported the message, the Houthi movement has issued no official statement confirming any suspension of attacks.
Since the war between Israel and Hamas began on October 7, 2023, the Houthis have regularly launched ballistic missiles and explosive drones toward Israel — most of which were intercepted. They also carried out dozens of attacks on commercial ships in the Red Sea under the claim that those vessels were linked to Israel.
