As Iran remains deeply engaged in war, the country’s new supreme leader, Mojtaba Khamenei, has disappeared from public view—fueling intense speculation about his condition and raising serious concerns about instability at the top of the regime.
Mojtaba Khamenei, son of former supreme leader Ali Khamenei, has not been seen in public since the start of the current conflict, following reports that he was injured in the strike that killed his father on February 28.
According to a March 11, 2026 report citing an Iranian diplomatic source in Cyprus, Mojtaba sustained injuries to his legs, hand and arm. His continued absence has only intensified rumors regarding his medical condition.
On March 15, several Arab media outlets reported that he was urgently flown to Russia for treatment. Additional reports from Kuwait claimed he underwent emergency surgery in Moscow and remains there for ongoing care. These reports suggest he was transported on a special aircraft due to the severity of his injuries.
