Washington is reportedly readying a wider campaign against sanctioned shipments.
According to six sources who spoke to Reuters, the US is preparing to intercept and seize additional ships carrying Venezuelan oil in the coming weeks. This follows yesterday’s seizure of an Iranian-linked tanker in the Southern Caribbean, an operation officials described as part of a broader enforcement push.
Sources say US agencies have already assembled a target list of several more sanctioned tankers that could be seized next. The move signals a renewed effort by President Trump’s administration to tighten pressure on both the Maduro regime and Iran’s networks, which Washington views as destabilizing forces aligned against US and Israeli interests.
