Likud Member Erdan Steps Down From U.S. Ambassador Post
Walla! News 27.06.2021
Israel’s Ambassador to the United States, Gilad Erdan, spoke to Prime Minister Naftali Bennett Sunday on the phone and requested to terminate his service immediately with the appointment of a new ambassador instead.
“In my eyes, he who represents the government before the American administration should be appointed by the incumbent government, therefore I expressed my willingness to the prime minister to end my term immediately after the approval of an envoy on his behalf in the government,” Erdan wrote.
“I will continue to defend Israel in the United Nations and fight for our justice on the international stage,” he added.
Bennett has not yet decided who to appoint as Erdan’s replacement in Washington.
