In a speech during the Security Council, yesterday, Thursday, regarding the humanitarian situation in Syria, Russia's representative to the United Nations, Vasili Nevanzia, said, "The sharp increase in tension on the Syrian-Israeli border is getting worse due to active external intervention, along with a continuing illegal foreign presence in the north and northeast of Syria ."

He added, "The intensification of airstrikes launched by the Israeli Air Force on civilian targets in Syria, including along the Blue Line, is alarming," and warned that "such irresponsible actions threaten to drag Syria and several of its neighbors into a comprehensive regional conflict space."

Nebenzia said that his country "strongly condemns attacks of this type on the territory of Syria, and considers them a blatant violation of sovereignty and the basic rules of international law", and noted that the Israeli attacks "have serious negative consequences on the timing of humanitarian aid".
