Three US citizens have been arrested and charged with conspiring to provide material support to ISIS, including alleged plans to help finance attacks against American servicemembers.
The suspects were identified as Bisaam Ghafoor, 21, of Kansas; Elias Shamsaldeen, 21, of California; and Bereen Dzayee, 25, a former US Navy sailor from the San Diego area. The FBI arrested them on June 5 in Kansas City, San Diego and Sacramento.
According to the Justice Department, the men pledged allegiance to ISIS and communicated through Discord, voice calls and other messaging services beginning by at least February 2025.
Prosecutors allege that the group collectively transferred more than $2,000 to a person they believed was an ISIS terrorist. The money was reportedly intended to help purchase rocket-propelled grenades and drones for attacks on US forces deployed overseas.
