Oded Eilam, a former head of the Mossad's counterterrorism unit and now a researcher at the Jerusalem Center for Foreign Affairs and Security, criticized Qatar following the recent strike there and weighed in on the dilemmas surrounding the possible release of hostages.
Eilam said the purpose of any operation is to succeed, and warned that with time passing it looks as if Israel has not yet achieved its aims.
He argued that Israeli deterrence has been damaged and called for decisive action, saying "the long arm of the IDF must not only reach everywhere, but also eliminate."
Eilam sharply attacked reliance on Qatar as a mediator, calling the country an economic and media power that funds terror and fuels antisemitic incitement worldwide.
