"We salute the spirit of the heroic Martyr, Maher Younes.”
PA TV reporter: “This week's protest rally had a different character, as alongside the prisoners' pictures, there was also the story of released prisoner Maher Younes, who served forty years in Israeli prisons.” DFLP political bureau member Mahmoud Khalaf: “The martyrdom of Maher Younes resulted from the suffering he endured in the prisons of the occupation (i.e. Israel) for 40 years… We salute the spirit of the heroic Martyr, Maher Younes.”
PA-funded Prisoners' Club Director Amjad Al-Najjar: “The late resistance fighter Maher Younes is considered a symbol for all our heroic prisoners. As we said initially, 40 years of steadfastness and defiance have proven that this man, and like him the Palestinian prisoner and the Palestinian resistance fighter – no matter how much the occupation tries to break their will [and spirit], through all its measures and power inside the prisons – these heroes continue to show endurance and continue to stand firm.”
