Iran’s military announced it launched cruise missiles from its coast toward the US aircraft carrier USS Abraham Lincoln, claiming some struck the vessel and forced it to change position in the Gulf.
Iranian naval commander Shahram Irani warned of further attacks, while US-linked assets in the region remain on high alert following recent joint US-Israel strikes on Iran.
Iran’s army said the missiles were part of an ongoing campaign targeting US naval forces, adding that the carrier’s movements are being constantly monitored and will remain within range of Iranian missile systems.
The reported strike follows an earlier March 13 claim by Iran that it carried out combined missile and drone attacks on the same carrier and other US Fifth Fleet vessels.
