Who remembers that until recently President Erdogan used to lash out at Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman and accused him of murdering the journalist Khashoggi in Istanbul?
Turkey and Saudi Arabia restored relations mainly due to the Turkish Sultan's need for cash. Indeed, today it became known that the two countries are close to an agreement according to which Saudi Arabia will deposit a sum of 5 billion dollars in the Turkish Central Bank.
The Turkish lira is losing ground and inflation in the Turkish economy exceeds 85%.
The arrival of the amount from Saudi Arabia may slightly improve the situation and by the way somewhat strengthen the popularity of President Erdogan ahead of the elections this summer.
