U.S. President Joe Biden declared Friday that “Iran will never develop a nuclear weapon.”
The statement was made during a joint press conference with Israeli Prime Minister Naftali Bennett at the White House.
The Israeli premier opened his remarks by sending condolences to the American families who lost their loved ones in yesterday’s terror attack in Kabul. In regards to Iran, he stressed that it is an “exporter of terrorism. It is our responsibility to take care of our destiny,” alluding to Israel’s obligation to protect itself in the shadow of a potentially nuclear Iran.
Biden also addressed the Kabul bombing, saying the loss of U.S. troops was “tragic.”
He stipulated he and Bennett were discussing “the threat from Iran and our commitment to ensure Iran never develops a nuclear weapon.”
“We’re putting diplomacy first and we'll see where that takes us. But if diplomacy fails, we're ready to turn to other options,” Biden added, without offering specifics.
