P'Zhashkhian spoke by phone with Colombian President Gustavo Petro, expressing Iran's desire to deepen diplomatic relations between the two countries. He welcomed extensive regional and international cooperation between Tehran and Bogota.
The Iranian president stressed the importance of unity between countries, and especially "in these critical times, when the decisions of US President Trump could lead to widespread global crises, it is important that cooperation between independent countries takes place ." He also praised Colombia's support for Gaza and thanked Petro for "condemning the transfer and genocide."
Petro, for his part, welcomed the strengthening of ties with Iran and expressed his desire to meet with President P'Zhashchian. Petro reiterated Colombia's unreserved support for the Palestinian people, and expressed hope to contribute to long-term peace in 'Palestine'.
