NEWSRAEL: Is Europe inching closer to WWIII Nuclear War? Russia's first ICBM shot at target in Ukraine
Russia launched an intercontinental ballistic missile (ICBM) during an attack on Ukraine, marking its first military use in the ongoing war, according to Kyiv's air force. This escalation follows Ukraine's recent missile strikes on Russian targets, which Moscow warned would be a significant provocation.
The missile, reportedly an RS-26 Rubezh with a range of 5,800 km, targeted critical infrastructure in Dnipro, causing damage and injuries. While the Ukrainian air force did not confirm the missile's warhead type, it emphasized that there was no indication it was nuclear-armed.
Defense analysts noted the unprecedented nature of this missile use in conflict, while questions arose about whether the U.S. was informed prior to the launch. Concurrently, Ukraine fired U.S. ATACMS missiles at Russian positions, escalating the military tensions further.
