The FBI has warned U.S. companies that Iranian hackers are looking for sensitive data stolen from U.S. and foreign organizations, CNN reported.
The U.S. network said the FBI's recommendations came in a warning report sent to U.S. companies.
The report pointed out that hackers had infiltrated cybercriminals' sites (dark sites) in search of sensitive data belonging to American entities that might be useful to these Iranians.
Dark websites usually post data like stolen emails and other private information from hacking operations.
The FBI is concerned that Iranian hackers may use this information to gain access to U.S. corporate networks in the future.
"If your organization has already been hacked, the FBI recommends that you consider any information that could be used to carry out additional malicious activities against your organization's network," the report said.
The report did not clarify the identity of the Iranian hackers behind this activity, and the FBI did not identify the hackers by name and did not say whether they were linked to the Iranian government or not.
